According to data provided by ABI Research, in 2009 were distributed to 1,150 million mobile phones.
Proportions / trends found are:
- 81% of all phones are smartphones.
- 56% are 3G.
- 48% of smartphones have GPS, compared to 29% in 2008 to the same area.
- 51% are "candybar" (normal type iPhone / RIM).
- 27% are "slide (slide to reveal the keypad, type Nokia 6600, 6500 or Motorola Sidekick).
- 19% are "clamshell" or "flip" (open and close, type Motorola RAZR V3i, Nokia 6085).
Some conclusions can be obtained from these data:
- More smartphones means more computing power available to run more complex applications, there are more markets for native applications.
- More GPS installed, it is time to develop all kinds of location-based games, search for close friends, find help near you, find assistance to get from point A to point B, advertising for people who found in an area of \u200b\u200b1 km around a point of reference.
- More "candybar" to take into account when designing interfaces: it has a large screen available to the front with a keyboard also available in front, this is definitely the area where most development should be from 2011: input and output interfaces . ------------
